CBI and Campbell join forces at All Industry Conference 2015

In another not-to-be missed session at the BMF All Industry Conference in June, the CBI will join the political strategist and writer Alastair Campbell to run a Workshop and Q&A discussing the impact of the newly elected Government on UK construction and the building materials industry.

The CBI will be represented by Laura Smith, Head of Construction & Manufacturing, who leads a team dealing with issues that are at the heart of the CBI’s mission to deliver prosperity for Britain, covering construction, housing, Industrial Strategy and manufacturing. The Construction team works to promote the importance and role of the construction sector as an economic engine and to boost the competitiveness of the industry.

Alistair Campbell is best known for his role as former British Prime Minister Tony Blair’s spokesman, Press Secretary and Director of Communications and Strategy. He remains active in politics but now divides his time between writing, speaking, charitable fundraising, consultancy and campaigns. He will be a keynote speaker at the Conference as well as taking a leading role in this Workshop.

Commenting on the Workshop, BMF MD, John Newcomb, said: “The CBI is the ideal organisation to lead this Workshop. It represents construction companies and their trade bodies, of all sizes and from all regions and sectors, from contractors to manufacturers, from house builders to architects. In addition, the CBI’s Construction Council also shapes the business agenda through its influence with government and key stakeholders throughout the industry. Its commitment to the sector, and to promoting a long-term Industrial Strategy, is crystal clear.

“We look forward to welcoming Laura to the Conference and we are also delighted that Alistair Campbell will add his personal knowledge of the workings of government to the debate.”
