City Plumbing has launched a new division, Commercial at City Plumbing, to serve professionals working in the light commercial sector.
As part of the launch, the Highbourne Group brand has made a trio of strategic appointments, bringing over 40 years of industry experience. Firstly, Dave Griggs has taken the role of Managing Director of the new division. Previously the MD of City Plumbing’s Spares division, Dave will help draw on his 34 years of experience within the business to help the new division “maximise and build on the distributor’s existing infrastructure and relationships.”
Joining Dave is Matt Trott as Head of Commercial Plumbing & Heating. Matt has worked in the Building Services sector for over 35 years, in senior roles within National Distribution, Manufacturing and Independent merchants and this range of experience will help to shape the mechanical services proposition within the new Commercial Division.
Kevin Flint has also been appointed as Head of Commercial Sanitaryware. With 15 years of industry experience from roles at Neville Lumb, Wolseley and Saint-Gobain, Kevin’s knowledge “will be critical in helping City Plumbing build its market share in the commercial sector.”
The Commercial at City Plumbing team has already started supplying sanitaryware across the commercial sector in addition to supplying renewables – including solar, heat pumps and MVHR – plus temporary site set-up to many customers in the sector. The next step will be to roll out light commercial plumbing and heating solutions “which will happen in the next few months” as well as a full range of plant equipment, further down the line.
The team will work directly with main contractors, mechanical and electrical installers, and facilities management professionals across sectors such as healthcare, education, offices, retail and leisure. To support customers nationwide, a number of existing City Plumbing branches are being upgraded to Commercial Hubs.
By drawing on its “market-leading logistics infrastructure and both existing and new supplier relationships,” the business says it is in a “strong position to support the unique needs of the light commercial sector with planning and specification support, as well as efficient delivery to site.” With over the counter, same day or next day delivery turnaround already available within the business, Commercial at City Plumbing is also said to be “ideally placed for urgent orders and deliveries.”
Dave Griggs, Managing Director of Commercial at City Plumbing, said: “Ultimately, we’re a national distributor with a localised service, which means we’re able to offer our commercial customers competitive pricing and a fast turnaround time when needed. Whether customers engage with us as part of the specification part of their projects or if they need urgent delivery of parts for repairs and maintenance, our aim is to build a division that has the stock, supplier relationships and infrastructure to deliver what they need and when they need it.
“Our team has vast experience in this area, and we’ve already hit the ground running by winning numerous contracts for sanitaryware and are making rapid progress in other areas already. There’s a huge opportunity for us in this area and we’ve got a clear strategy in place, including even more new recruits, to ensure that we’re able to provide the services, expertise and products our Commercial customers need.”
