The fastest ever eCommerce website implementation is being reportedly being delivered for JK Timber, a small merchant, fighting back against the sales impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
eCommonSense agreed to deliver a simple solution within four weeks to help the merchant combat falling sales.
The pandemic has seen many merchants who rely on offline, traditional sales methods struggle as more trade shifts online – a trend that is expected to continue as the world comes out the other side.
Managing Director of JK Timber, Sam Chhita, said: “We are only a small timber merchant based in Rugby with a turnover of around a £1m and had not invested in a class-leading e-commerce solution. When the pandemic hit, we struggled to cope with orders arriving by email and over the phone.
“So, we needed a solution to be in place quickly that would help us carry on trading efficiently. That is why we contacted eCommonSense who have been brilliant in hearing our story and then putting in place a record-breaking implementation which I think will get us in a great position.”
While the fully functional solution integrates into existing back-office systems, the initial implementation for JK Timber will have this functionality added after go-live, as the majority of sales are expected to come from retail customers. They do not need trading accounts with complex pricing.
JK Timber will join a growing list of merchants opting for the eCommonSense website and product management solution, including Inter-Line, who won the 2019 Best Website and Digital Initiative in the Builders’ Merchant Awards.
Many merchants have been bringing forward their online launches in response to the Covid-19 crisis and the social distancing rules. Going live recently on the eCommonSense platform were the Irish merchants TJ O’Mahony, JT Dove, Colchester’s Collier & Catchpole, Leamington-based Building and Plumbing Supplies and London’s civil’s merchant, George Lines, who join their sister company Lords.
Also going live in June will be Northern Ireland’s Haldane Fisher who will utilise the deep integration into the Kerridge Babbage ERP system.
