Harris & Bailey secures FORS gold accreditation

As part of its ongoing commitment to customer excellence and reducing its environmental impact, Harris & Bailey has achieved Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) gold status.

Designed to reinforce best practices in safety, efficiency, and environmental performance for fleet operators, the gold accreditation sets Harris & Bailey apart as a builders’ merchant striving to continually improve performance with the Croydon-based firm said to be one of only a handful of  merchants in the south east to reach the standard.

Having been a FORS bronze recipient since 2015, passing first time, silver was achieved by the business in 2024. The gold standard further requires the most stringent criteria to be met, and is the highest FORS level that can be achieved.

Mark Privett, Transport Manager at Harris & Bailey, has completed all courses and is a qualified FORS practitioner. He conducts regular driving assessments to monitor performance, and all drivers complete the FORS eLearning course.

Mark (pictured above) commented: “Since we have become FORS members and subsequently achieved our gold accreditation, the business is both more compliant and aware of environmental issues, driver and pedestrian safety and operates more efficiently. The scheme has been hugely positive for us and we’re extremely proud to have progressed from bronze to the gold accreditation which is helping us become safer, greener and more efficient.”

Driver Hire is used to check licences on a regular, automated basis, while the CheckedSafe app allows drivers to do their walk around checks using their phones rather than paper which also means any issues are quickly highlighted to the transport team. Bulk fuel and AdBlue deliveries are made to the onsite tank while the vehicle camera supplier, Brigade Electronics, is a FORS partner.
