IHS UK launches ‘mobile’ drive-thru plant for concrete and screed

With a growing number of merchants successfully launching drive-thru batching plants for concrete and screed, Integrated Hydraulic Solutions (IHS UK) states it has taken the concept one stage further with the introduction of the Conqueror XL ‘mobile solution’.

Drive-thru areas are now a common sight across the country due to their ability to streamline the ordering process for any industry, from fast food or a quick coffee. As showcased in the pages of PBM and on our website over the last year or so, the concept has come to UK builders’ merchants in the form of self-service batching plants for concrete, mortar and screed where customers can receive their exact requirements at the push of a button.

Now, IHS UK says that it has taken this idea one step further with the creation of the Conqueror XL trailer. Established in 2015 and with a wealth of experience and expertise across different manufacturing sectors, the business lays claim to a “strong track record of success stories in bespoke machinery builds, tailored to match the exact requirements of the job.”

Turning its attention to drive-thru innovations as its next endeavour, the Conqueror XL is billed as a brand-new concept that gives companies all the functionality and benefits of a stationary drive-thru plant but with the bonus of being able to be easily transported between different sites.

IHS argues that its new solution gives builders’ merchants the opportunity to be at the “forefront of the industry with a streamlined, seamless and simplified purchasing process with the unique ability to be easily moved around the country when the requirement arises.” Moreover, the manufacturer asserts that this will drastically reduce the expenditure a merchant needs to make “as there is little need to purchase a stationary drive-thru unit for every branch.”

The mobile Conqueror XL can be programmed to handle a variety of mixes due to its top-loaded bins and separate systems to house liquid mixtures such as accelerators, retarders, air entering agents and modified latex for more speciality jobs. IHS says it has also ensured the trailer is as eco-friendly as possible as it has no wastage, with exact measurements for any job no matter what the size.

“The Conqueror XL is billed as a brand-new concept that gives companies all the functionality and benefits of a stationary drive-thru plant but with the bonus of being able to be easily transported between different sites.”

The vehicle itself features a 1,800 litre water tank, holds material for 10m³ of concrete and “boasts an impressive 12-20m³ per hour throughput.” Concrete mixed in the batch process is said to be of the highest quality, meeting the EN-206 standards, whilst the Conqueror XL trailer only requires one operator for the entire process from delivery to end of transaction.

Highlighting the cost margins for merchant businesses, IHS UK Director Nick Doe said: “I think this could be a game changer in the UK builders’ merchant market. Customers want the easiest transaction possible and not at the expense of efficiency or a diminished final product.

“Our Conqueror XL trailer not only ensures that the customer is left with the exact product they require, in the most streamlined manner, but the builders’ merchant themselves can solidify their company as an industry leader, whilst at the same time saving unnecessary costs on multiple stationery drive-thru plants.”
