South Derbyshire-based door distributor JB Kind has been acquired by the investors behind Distinction Doors, reportedly the UK’s largest composite door manufacturer.
The acquisition is said to mark a significant injection of investment for JB Kind, as well as strategic support from the experienced investor’s highly experienced management team. This “exciting new chapter” will see JB Kind build upon its strong market presence and long-standing reputation and the business will be led by Commercial Director Simon Johnson and Operations Director Martin Hile, who bring more than 70 years of combined industry experience and will “work together to drive the next phase of growth.”
Simon commented: “Together with the JB Kind team, we’re excited about what the future holds. Opportunities are already beginning to unfold, and our strong customer base is set to benefit greatly from this acquisition. We look forward to sharing more updates very soon.”

JB Kind is a leading wooden door specialist, which celebrated 150 years in business in 2020 and 40 years in the door industry in 2023. Today, the company reports that it sells more than a quarter of a million doors each year and “balances profitability with environmentalism, ensuring all of its wooden doors are procured from sustainable sources.”
Introducing “quality and affordable door designs to the mass market,” the company is a leading supplier of high-quality wooden doors in the UK, supplying builders’ merchants and other retailers.
