JB Kind acquisition to “drive growth and innovation”

South Derbyshire-based door distributor JB Kind has been acquired by the investors behind Distinction Doors, reportedly the UK’s largest composite door manufacturer.

The acquisition is said to mark a significant injection of investment for JB Kind, as well as strategic support from the experienced investor’s highly experienced management team. This “exciting new chapter” will see JB Kind build upon its strong market presence and long-standing reputation and the business will be led by Commercial Director Simon Johnson and Operations Director Martin Hile, who bring more than 70 years of combined industry experience and will “work together to drive the next phase of growth.”

Simon commented: “Together with the JB Kind team, we’re excited about what the future holds. Opportunities are already beginning to unfold, and our strong customer base is set to benefit greatly from this acquisition. We look forward to sharing more updates very soon.”

Martin added: “This is an exciting time for the business and our team. With new investment and support, we’re confident we can enhance our operations, expand our offerings, and build on the success of the JB Kind brand.”

The new owners shared their vision for the acquisition, saying: “This move demonstrates our commitment to preserving the 150 year long history of JB Kind for both its long-standing employees and loyal customer base. Our aim is to ensure the long term stability and growth of the organisation with significant investment and expertise which will carry JB Kind from strength to strength.”

They added that the acquisition allows JB Kind to embark on an exciting new phase of growth, supported by proven industry expertise, robust resources and a customer focused approach.

JB Kind is a leading wooden door specialist, which celebrated 150 years in business in 2020 and 40 years in the door industry in 2023. Today, the company reports that it sells more than a quarter of a million doors each year and “balances profitability with environmentalism, ensuring all of its wooden doors are procured from sustainable sources.”

Introducing “quality and affordable door designs to the mass market,” the company is a leading supplier of high-quality wooden doors in the UK, supplying builders’ merchants and other retailers.
