BSS has announced the appointment of Josie Crowe as its new Managing Director, marking both an exciting step forward for the business and return for Josie, who rejoins the company where her career in the Travis Perkins Group began over two decades ago.
Josie brings 21 years of experience across the Travis Perkins Group, including 16 years at BSS, where she progressed from sales roles to Regional Director. She returns after acting as Managing Director for BENCHMARX, the kitchen and joinery specialist arm of the Group.
A leading distributor of pipeline and heating solutions, BSS supplies over 84,000 products through more than 50 branches nationwide. Speaking of her return to the business, Josie said: “BSS has always held a special place in my heart, and I’ve had such a warm welcome from my colleagues. My experience means I’ve seen BSS from every angle. There’s a really strong foundation here. We’re number one in our sector, and my ambition is to take the business even further and create more space between us and the competition.”
She added: “We’ve done a great job with large national customers. Now I want to strengthen our regional relationships and make BSS the local merchant of choice: one that listens, does the right thing, and has the specialist know-how to meet our customers’ needs.”
Josie plans to bring agile and collaborative leadership to BSS, which sits under the Group’s specialist division, alongside TF Solutions, Keyline, and CCF. “I believe in creating momentum and bringing everyone together as one. Effective leadership is about authenticity, building a culture where people thrive, and having a strategic approach in everything you do.”
Furthermore, to deliver sustainable growth, professional development will be essential to Josie’s agenda. She commented: “Around 10% of BSS colleagues are currently enrolled in apprenticeship schemes. I want to continue that momentum, upskill our staff, and ensure our schemes move with the market.
“If we look after our colleagues and do the right thing, supporting performance and creating clear career pathways, then customers will want to deal with us because we’ve got the best people in the industry.”
