MKM Building Supplies is set to open the 135th branch in its network on Monday 7th July in Wolverhampton, creating 19 new jobs.
Offering a comprehensive range of building materials — with additional specialisations in plumbing and heating, kitchens and bathrooms, and landscaping — the new branch also includes a modern kitchen and bathroom showroom along with an inspiring landscaping display area. The branch also features MKM’s first Ocean Air Renewables area — a dedicated space to support customers with sustainable heating and energy solutions.
Significantly, MKM Wolverhampton introduces the company’s first-ever ‘Fast Lane’ drive-thru warehouse. With two vehicle entrances, the Fast Lane is designed to speed up service, reduce waiting times and cut out unnecessary manual handling. Team members will load vehicles directly, improving safety on site, reducing congestion and “delivering a quick, professional and smooth experience—all designed with tradespeople in mind.”
Located on Neachells Lane (WV11 3QQ), the facility is led by Branch Directors David Wint, Dave Horton, and Dan Mansell – and all three were born and bred in Wolverhampton. Together, they bring over 100 years of industry experience, and are “passionate about creating a builders’ merchant that truly understands what the local community needs.”
Dan Mansell commented: “We’ve worked in this trade a long time—helping customers, loading wagons, sorting stock—and we know what works. MKM gives us the freedom to bring that proper, personal service back. We’re about no faff—just decent stock, knowledgeable people, and quick turnarounds.”
Dave Horton said: “We’re not tied down by corporate restrictions—we make all our decisions locally, so we can respond quickly and keep things flexible. That’s what sets MKM apart.”
The new branch includes a 5,000 sq ft covered warehouse and operates an extensive fleet, including three HGV crane wagons and a transit van, with free local delivery as standard. Same-day deliveries are possible too.
David Wint concluded: “We’ve built this branch with Wolverhampton in mind from day one. Local faces, the knowledge to help you get the job done, and the stock you need. No messing about. We’re here to make life easier for every customer who comes in.
“Plenty of merchants talk about branches of the future and evolution like it’s something novel, but we’re always evolving, always improving. Every new branch is another chance to be better. That’s just how we do things at MKM.”
As with every MKM branch, the Wolverhampton outlet is committed to supporting the local community, with Ward 9 at Birmingham Children’s Hospital set as its chosen charity. Further local sponsorships and community partnerships will follow.
