Ultratape puts the case for premium quality

Commercial Manager Craig Laing outlines the ethos behind the company’s launch of the latest new premium product in the Ultratape Decorating Range.

In the last three years, the construction industry has experienced significant and ongoing challenges including reliability of supply chain, delays in freight, rising production costs, increased freight costs, additional taxes including the change to white diesel, the plastic packaging tax, and the list just goes on and on and on…

Some manufacturers have turned to practices such as shrinkflation and skimpflation, compromising the value of products delivered to the merchant. This in turn has a positive impact on the balance sheet and may protect your margin for a while, but what are the long term implications?

More importantly, what happens to the quality of the final job and the happiness of your customer’s customer? After all it’s a good job well done, and being remembered for it further down the line that gives the builder, decorator or plumber the personal referral that enhances their own reputation to build a reputable business – and in Ultratape’s case, build a reputable brand.

Like all downturns, the current climate requires both a medium and longer term approach.

As a trusted supply partner within the merchanting and construction industry, Ultratape has taken a different approach. Simply put, we believe cutting corners compromises quality. And once a supplier, merchant or tradesperson chooses this perilous path downhill, it can become difficult to maintain a brand or reputation.

So what has Ultratape done, I hear you say? The NEW Sensitive Masking Tape you see pictured above pretty much sums it up.

Consumers and customers still want premium quality products at an affordable price.

Ultratape’s solution, therefore, is rather than have customers paying the expense of a 50m product that by definition is a Premium product and not needed in all decorating applications, the company has reduced the length of the roll and priced accordingly.

For example, think of the many half-used rolls of masking tape sat in garages, sheds and cupboards where the price outlayed slowly evaporates, or more literally, absorbs dampness and can no longer be used. The only result is wasted product and wasted cost.

So, Ultratape’s newly launched Sensitive Masking Tape is:

Designed to protect wallpapers, painted, lacquered or sensitive surfaces

Low tack and clean removal

Ensures sharp edges and a professional finish

Available in 24/36/48mm x 25 metre length rolls.

It is a welcome addition offering Decorators Merchants and Builders Merchants a full range of masking tapes and products, including protection films, adhesives and more all from one supplier.
